6th December 2021
Every autumn, Planet Mark shine a light on member companies and individuals that have gone above and beyond to see great success. The Planet Mark Awards, held on the 18th of November, celebrated excellence across sustainability, including carbon reduction, supply chain engagement and social responsibility.
We were thrilled to be invited to celebrate the passion, commitment, and the innovation that we have all made for sustainable change, and were even more fortunate for our Project Manager - Russell Blunt to be nominated as a finalist for the Personal Achievement Award.
In addition to hearing from Planet Mark Founder and CEO Steve Malkin, we heard some inspiring talks from Jon Geldart, Director General at the Institute of Directors and Clare Shine, Director and CEO of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. Important discussions were had concerning where sustainability is heading and our duty to the climate, and we came away from the event feeling inspired and ready for action.
It was incredible to be surrounded (in person) by like-minded and passionate individuals really pushing for sustainability in their companies, and to take home the award in the Personal Achievement category made the evening even sweeter.
The Personal Achievement Award showcases the tireless work of an individual in positively impacting the progress of sustainability. We are thrilled that Russell received recognition for his continued passion and drive, his commitment and impact has not gone unnoticed. Russell constantly challenges our business' norm and has created an appetite for sustainable solutions not as a consideration but as the main objective for City & Essex's future.
We feel it is important to celebrate each other’s success, through inspiration and recognition we will be driven to make bigger change. We would not only like to congratulate the winners in the various awards, but also the finalists, and everyone associated with Planet Mark. It is clear that everyone is doing such meaningful work and making change for a brighter future.
The evening would not have been possible without the Planet Mark Award judging panel, guest speakers, and sponsors VolkerWessels UK, Prologis, Stephen George + Partners, Fora, GLP, Womble Bond Dickinson, Bourne Leisure, City Electrical Factors, Mental Health Charter, Lambert Smith Hampton, Tre Office, SKCI, Whirlpool and TENZING.
But most of all, we would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to The Planet Mark Team for their continued support, and for the tireless hours spent arranging this event.
“Now we must carry that momentum forward to accelerate the transition to net zero in this critical Decade of Action. The time is now for every person, organisation and authority to take decisive actions that will take back our climate.” – The Planet Mark
