The Race At Work Charter

The Race At Work Charter

25th July 2022

We are pleased to announce we are now a signatory of the Business in the Community Race at Work Charter. Ethnic minorities still face significant disparities in employment and progression, and that is something we all need to change. The Charter comprises seven calls to action for leaders and organisations across all sectors. Signing the Charter means taking practical steps to ensure our workplace is tackling barriers that Black, Asian, Mixed Raced, and other ethnically diverse people face in recruitment and progression and that our organisation is representative of British society today.

Sandra Kerr CBE, Race Director at Business in the Community, said:

“We would like to thank City & Essex for publicly committing to be an inclusive and responsible employer. By signing up to the Charter, they are joining over 800 businesses who are working together so that the UK can have one of the most inclusive workplaces in the world. By taking collective action, we can break down workplace barriers, raise the aspirations and achievements of talented individuals regardless of their ethnicity and deliver an enormous boost to the long-term economic position of the UK.”
