Another year, another successful Great British Spring Clean!
Our Head Office team once again took to the streets, dedicating their time and energy to keeping our local community clean. This year, we collected an impressive 41 kg of litter, bringing our cumulative total to 221 kg (the weight of a grand piano) over the years.
A huge thank you to our incredible team for stepping up, making a difference, and proving that small actions can lead to a cleaner, greener environment. Here’s to another year of positive impact!

Joining Forces to Support the St. Vincent’s Centre
Last week, our Head Office team came together to provide vital food supplies and clothing donations as part of our collaboration with Pink Hygiene, supporting St. Vincent’s Centre in Southend.
We had the privilege of visiting St. Vincent’s impressive facilities and were truly inspired by the dedication of their team and the incredible work they do. The Centre provides essential support and community services to individuals and families facing poverty and social exclusion. From food banks and clothing assistance to outreach programs, they are a lifeline for those in need, helping to restore dignity and hope.
A huge thank you to Pink Hygiene for introducing us to this remarkable charity.

Celebrating Thank Your Cleaner Day
On the 16th of October, we celebrated an important day on our calendar—Thank Your Cleaner Day.
We invited our customers and partners to join us in recognising the incredible people who bring our commitment to excellence to life. City & Essex wouldn’t be where we are today without the dedication and hard work of the individuals proudly wearing our logo and consistently delivering the high standards our customers rely on.
On this special day, we paused to acknowledge their invaluable contributions. We encouraged everyone to take a moment—whether it was a heartfelt thank you, a warm smile, or a simple note of gratitude—to show appreciation for the teams who work tirelessly to keep our customers’ spaces pristine, welcoming, and safe.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in honouring the extraordinary individuals who make it all possible. Here’s to our cleaning teams—your hard work does not go unnoticed!

Celebrating Gabriela’s 10 Year Milestone
We are thrilled to celebrate our Area Manager, Gabriela Gavriliuc, on her 10-year work anniversary with City & Essex. Gabriela’s passion, hard work, warmth, and commitment have been integral to her team’s success and her customers’ satisfaction. To mark this milestone, we asked her to share some insights and experiences from her journey with us:
- What originally drew you to City & Essex?
“My mum was already working at City & Essex, and a good friend of mine made me aware of the new position available as an Area Manager, which I applied for.”
- What’s your favourite memory from your first year here?
“There are a lot of varied memories and different types of work that I have enjoyed doing and learning at the same time. Meeting all my lovely colleagues, who have been very helpful since I started, is a highlight.”
- How has your role evolved over the past 10 years?
“My role doesn’t look the same at all. Since I started 10 years ago, I’ve had a significant change in my portfolio from a large area with a number of smaller sites to a larger portfolio of prestigious buildings.”
- What achievement are you most proud of?
“My greatest achievements include quoting for new building jobs, completing challenging projects successfully, being involved in the mobilisation of multiple sites, and continuing to provide great service. Mentoring my Area Supervisor, who is stepping into my shoes, is particularly rewarding. I’ve also learned a new language to communicate more effectively with my team.”
- What do you appreciate most about our company culture?
“The culture at City & Essex is very supportive, especially the managers I’ve worked with: Sandra Ribeiro, Lisa Pursglove, Andy Bennett, and Jason Edwards. They have supported my career and development throughout these years.”
- What advice would you give to new team members?
“Ensure that you have job satisfaction, do the job to the best of your ability, be a team player, and always ask for help if you need it.”
- What excites you about the company’s future?
“I’ve had the privilege of working in some truly great buildings and I am confident that in the future, more prestigious buildings will join my portfolio.”
- What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“In my free time, I enjoy travelling, going to the gym, and watching football.”
Thank you, Gabriela, for your incredible contributions and dedication over the past decade. Here’s to many more years of success together!
